NC/DC Updates

Hello Parents and Students! Sorry about the lack of updates on the actual trip. We were very busy and did not have as much down time as I had hoped to get pictures posted. So, I am going to take this time to share with you! I have photos that I took on the trip, and will do a day by day posting!

Day 1, June 8, 2009
We started our day early. Everyone was at the airport and checked in by 6:30 am! We headed to our gate, and had no problem getting everyone through security. I was very impressed with the number of students who chose to carry their bags on! That is tough task, especially when you can only have 3 oz. of liquids in a one quart bag!
We had some down time at the gate, so the family groups broke off and got introduced to one another and then they were able to spend time with friends or grab a bite to eat before leaving!

Our flights were uneventful, and we are able to feed the students easily at the Houston Airport. We did have a gate change in Houston, that was luckily caught! Otherwise we may have ended up in the wrong city!
We arrived in Raleigh around 5:30 pm, and had to wait for the couple of people that did check luggage. We then boarded our faboulous bus, bound for Buns! in Chapel Hill, NC.

Our first night, was spent in the dorms at UNC-Chapel Hill. The students stayed in suite style rooms, sharing a bathroom with the seven other people in their suite. This really gave them an opportunity to experience what college life is like! We had icebreakers that night in the commons of the hall. The students were given a chance to earn an express pass. This pass gave the holder a chance to cut to the front of line during meals, bathroom breaks, exit the bus first and to take a friend along! The express pass is earned by remembering as many names as you can...which is a difficult task with 40 students on a trip! The other way to earn the pass is by helping out others around you!
